Instrument Rating

$5,000.00

Instrument training prepares you to safely fly in clouds, reduced visibility, and other conditions requiring reliance on flight instruments. You will develop stronger aircraft control, improve your decision-making, and learn the procedures needed to earn your instrument rating.

This training estimate includes 15 hours of instruction in an FAA-approved flight simulator and 10 hours of instrument flight instruction in the aircraft. Students may complete the remaining FAA-required instrument experience independently or, when appropriate, be paired with another qualified instrument student to build simulated-instrument time while sharing aircraft rental expenses.

Actual costs may vary depending on the student’s previous experience, proficiency, training frequency, aircraft rates, and remaining FAA aeronautical experience requirements. Written-test fees, examiner fees, checkride aircraft rental, and additional training beyond the included hours are not included unless otherwise stated.
